This is a fun, entertaining video that was made possible through videos provided by Sandy Deeley, Dave Leaf, Will Lucas and Adam Showell. It has highlights of many of the competitors participating in the 2001, 2003 and 2004 contests. The 2001 contest starts with Mark Harrell and Kip Martin announcing the competitors. Their humor only adds to the laid back attitude of the contest. It’s all about fun and supporting a good cause.
The movie includes additional clips that can be viewed at the users option from the main menu. The first is a mission statement from Shelly Dawson; which is the dry sort of thing you might expect. But then, just stay tuned for the Professor ( Kip Martin ) as he instructs a Junior Lifeguard Class on the importance of clean beaches and water. You will laugh - maybe even get a little grossed out.
The Ocean City Chapter has a great volunteer team that promotes their causes through awareness and cooperation. One of the premier events that they host is the Longboard Team Challenge with teams from Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and New Jersey. The contest and the other events during the weekend make for a great time and gives an important opportunity for the Foundation to bring to the public’s attention the importance of issues that affect surfing.
